She married Earl K. Bainter in 1941 and they lived in the Shirley, Indiana area for many years.
Her obituary lists a daughter, Janice J. Stearns. This could be another child of Ronald Johnson or a child from her marriage to Earl Bainter.

Son of W. A. Johnson Dies of Peritonitis Following Operation -- Buried Sunday

This community was saddened last Friday, June 15, when news came from Ft. Wayne of the death of Ronald Johnson, 31, son of "Alf" Johnson, and well known to almost everyone in this district.
His death was caused by peritonitis following an operation for appendicitis on May 28th. He passed away at 8 o'clock in the morning at the St. Joseph's hospital. Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 o'clock at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Johnson, in Eel River township east of Churubusco and at 2 o'clock at the Eel River Baptist church with the Rev. F. S. Young of Kimmell officiating, assisted by Rev. E. J. Hults of Churubusco. He was laid to rest in Riverview cemetery.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his parents; his widow, Mrs. Ethel Yant Johnson; three small sons, Walter, Alton and Darrol; nine sisters, Mrs. Elmer S. Goheen and Mrs. Edwin Strahm, both of Ft. Wayne; Mrs. Donald Guillaume of Perry township, and Mrs. Mary Conner and the Misses Blanche, Gladys, Irma, Elnora and Evelyn, all at home in Eel River township, and Arthur of Flint, Michigan.
Ronald Johnson was born September 28, 1902, in Eel River township. He was a member of the 1922 graduating class of the Churubusco high school and in 1923 he married Ethyl Yant in Churubusco, the Rev. George Thomas performing the ceremony. Soon afterward he joined the staff of the Ft. Wayne postoffice and worked for them for ten years, until his illness. Postoffice employees served as pall bearers.

Ethyl Victoria Bainter, 94, formerly of Shirley died Sunday in Aurora at the home of her daughter after a short illness.
She had lived in the Shirley area since 1941 and has made her home with her daughter for the past 2 1/2 years. She was a homemaker and artist. She taught oil painting and china painting. She graduated from Churubusco High School with the class of 1921. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Shirley and Esther Circle of the church, the Lemba Club of New Castle, Home Economics Club of Kennard and Cadiz area and was a former 4-H Leader. She was born Dec. 29, 1903, in Lima, Ohio, a daughter of the late Irving and Laura Miller Yant.
She is survived by a son, Alton L. Johnson of Greenfield; a daughter, Janice J. Stearns of Aurora; two daughters-in-law, Betty Johnson of Greenfield and Lydia Johnson of New Castle; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Merlin Yant of Churubusco; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald Johnson; her second husband of 44 years, Earl K. Bainter, who died on Oct. 9, 1985; two sons, Darrol E. Johnson on Sept. 2, 1990, and Walter B. Johnson on Oct. 15, 1996; two brothers, Miller and Walter Yant; and an infant grandson, Sammy.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home Estell Chapel in Shirley with the Rev. Kurt Stone officiating. Burial will follow in the McCray Cemetery at Wilkinson. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home.
