Arthur E. Zolman

Arthur Edward Zolman, 74, a 33-year resident of Tacoma and former 14 year resident of Olympia, died of complications from heart surgery Monday, May 4, 1998 in Tacoma General Hospital, Tacoma, Washington.
He was born June 20, 1923 in Albion, Indiana to Edward Raymond and Estella (Gordon) Zolman. He attended schools in Avilla, graduating in 1942.
He married Mildred Gloria Marks on January 1, 1943 in Indiana.
Mr. Zolman served five years in the Army Air Corps as a fighter pilot and bomber during World War II stationed in Europe.
Following the service, he was a police officer in Indiana. He later was employed by the Federal Civil Service at Mt. Rainier Ordinance Depot, Fort Lewis, Washington, until its closure and as a shop foreman at the Keyport Naval Station, Bangor, Washington, retiring in 1984.
Mr. Zolman was a member of Harmony Lodge No. 18 Masonic Olympia-Tumwater area, and the American Legion Post No. 3., Olympia. He also was a member of the Tacoma Rifle Club and the Evergreen Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting.
Mr. Zolman is survived by his wife, Mildred, Tacoma; three sons, Gary Arthur, Bremerton, Terry, Olympia, Brent, Kenai, Alaska; a daughter Virginia (Mrs. George) Pate, Olympia; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother Guy Zolman, Avilla, Indiana and a sister, Lucille Pippinger.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, in Olympic Funeral Home, Tumwater, Washington. A private funeral service will be held Saturday, May 9, in Olympic Funeral Home. His son, Army Chaplain Brent Zolman will officiate. Burial will be in Olympic Memorial Gardens, Tumwater.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Road, Wilton, NH 03086-0907. Arrangements are by Olympic Funeral Home, Tumwater.
