Fifty-two years ago he married Miss Susan Schinbeckler, who survives.  Mr. & Mrs. Kiefer were the parents of eleven children, one of whom, Mrs. Elizabeth Trier, died on August 18, 1920.  The surviving children are: Edward, of Washington township, William, Harmon and Mrs. Arthur Allen of South Whitley, Fred, of Bluffton, Mrs. Emma Wolf, wife of Frank Wolf, of Columbia City, Frank Kiefer, also of this city, Mrs. Anna Keller, of Fort Wayne, Henry of Burkett, Ind., Mrs. Russell Lancaster, of Cleveland township.  A sister, Mrs. Jacob Gerlock, lives in Fort Wayne.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, leaving the home at South Whitley, for the St. John's Lutheran Church, where services will be conducted by Rev. Val Hennig.
