Helen Geiger Bolenbaugh, 68
September 15, 1932 - February 12, 2001

Helen M. Bolenbaugh, 68, a former resident of Tri-Lakes and also rural Churubusco, died at 6:50 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2001 at the residence of her daughter, south of Garrett. She had been in declining health for some time, and had been seriously ill since September.
Mrs. Bolenbaugh was born in Allen County on September 15, 1932, a daughter of Earl G. and Mary Harter Geiger, and spent most of her formative years in the Churubusco area.
On Aug. 19, 1950, she was married to Don Mendenhall. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1953. Her second marriage took place on July 18, 1961 to Alfred E. Bolenbaugh. He died on December 12, 1983.
A member of the Gilbert Davis American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Churubusco, she retired in 1988 from Dana Corporation after five years.
Among the surviving relatives are five daughters, Ellen (Steve) LaRue and Joan Walker, both of Columbia City, Donna LaRue of Camarillo, Calif., Faith (Dean) Harshman of Churubusco, and Bonnie (Troy) Bigelow of rural Auburn; two sons, Willis Bolenbaugh, and James (Kelly) Bolenbaugh, both of Churubusco; and two step-sons, Robert Bolenbaugh of Fort Wayne and Lee Bolenbaugh of Angola.
Also surviving are her mother Mary Geiger of Churubusco; ;three brothers, Paul (Judy) Geiger, Charles (Joyce) Geiger, and Harry (Kay) Geiger, all of Churubusco; five sisters, Leona (William) Uptgraft of Merriam, Claire (Gary) Nuenthel of Edgerton, Wis., Mary Ann Gaerte of Albion, Bonnie (William) Schirmeyer of Fort Wayne, and Pauline (Jerry) Lane of Little Suamico, Wis.; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her father and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother George Geiger and a step-daughter Melanie Bolenbaugh.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sheets Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastors Paul D. White and Dell Harshman of Churubusco Church of the Nazarene officiating.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery south of Churubusco.

Alfred E. Bolenbaugh

Alfred E. Bolenbaugh, 72, R. 3, Churubusco, died Monday in his home.
Born Feb. 13, 1911 in Van Wert County to Mr. and Mrs. Willis A. Bolenbaugh, he married Helen Geiger on July 28, 1961 and spent the rest of his life in Noble County. He was a self employed truck mechanic before retiring in 1973.
Surviving are his wife, Helen, four sons, Robert, Fort Wayne, Lee, Angola, Willis and James, both living at home, five daughters, Mrs. Steven (Ellen) LaRue, S. Whitley, Mrs. Vern (Donna) LaRue, Churubusco, Mrs. Dennis (Joan) Walker, Columbia City, Ms. Faith Bolenbaugh and Ms. Bonnie Bolenbaugh, both living at home; three brothers, Russell and Lewis, both of Ohio and Walter, Fort Wayne, three sisters, Goldie Adams and Vera Bates of Fort Wayne and Ocie Bolenbaugh of Ohio, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Calling will be at Sheets Funeral Home, Churubusco, after Tuesday, as will the funeral at 10:30 on Thursday. The Rev. Gerald Bricker will officiate. Burial will be at the Eel River Cemetery.
