Illness Claims Avilla Area Man
AVILLA - Edward Raymond Zolman, 57, R. R. 1, Avilla, died in the Lutheran Hospital at Fort Wayne about
10:30 p.m. Monday. He had been a patient there 18 days.
Born near Churubusco, he had resided in this community most of his life.
He was a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are the widow, Estella; one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Pippenger, R. R. 1, Avilla;
two sons, Art, Olympia, Wash., and Guy, R. R. 1, Avilla;
13 grandchildren; three brothers, Ben, Detroit, Clyde, Columbia City, and Archie, Fort Wayne;
one half brother, Castor Herron, Fort Wayne, and three sisters,
Mrs. Mable Jaquay, Angola, Miss Lela Zolman, Auburn, and Mrs. Lulu Kaiser, Columbia City.
The body, taken to the Clark Funeral Home, will be returned to the residence at 2 p.m. Wednesday, where friends may call.
Services will be held in the church at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. William Werth will officiate,
and burial will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery at Merriam.

Estella Zolman
AVILLA - Estella Zolman, 78, Route 1, Avilla, died at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leo Pippenger.
Born May 24, 1900 in Noble County, she was the daughter of Joseph and Samantha (Benhour) Gordon.
She married Edward R. Zolman July 9, 1919. He preceded her in death in December 1955.
Mrs. Zolman had lived in Whitley and Noble counties her entire life and was engaged in farming.
She was a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church and its Ladies Aide Society.
Survivors besides the daughter, Mrs. Pippenger, are two sons, Arthur Zolman, Tacoma, Wash.: and Guy Zolman, Route 1, Avilla;
13 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers [Jesse, William and Walter Gordon] and two sisters [Roxie Claxton and Alta Campbell] preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the Sheets Funeral Home, Churubusco, after 1 p.m. Wednesday, and after 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hopewell
Presbyterian Church, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Donald Abby will officiate.
Burial in Christian Chapel Cemetery.
